Where Future Innovators Are Made: Discover GEMS Founders School In Dubai South
Dubai South, renowned for being the largest single-urban master development with a focus on aviation, logistics, and real estate, recently made headlines with its new collaboration. In a significant move towards enhancing educational infrastructure within the region, Dubai South has partnered with GEMS Education, the leading private K-12 education provider in the UAE, to establish the GEMS Founders School – Dubai South. This British curriculum school is set to open its doors in the Dubai South Residential District, pending approval from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Its strategic location near Expo Road ensures accessibility for students from neighbouring communities, including Expo City Dubai.
The agreement signing ceremony saw the gathering of notable figures such as HE Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Sunny Varkey, Chairman and Founder of GEMS Education. Also present were Nabil Al Kindi, CEO of Dubai South Properties, and Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer of GEMS Education, among other senior executives from both entities.
HE Khalifa Al Zaffin expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Dubai South's commitment to supporting the UAE's vision of attracting one million residents to the area. This initiative is a part of the broader objective to provide top-tier services and amenities, thereby contributing significantly to the UAE's educational sector's development. On the other hand, Sunny Varkey mirrored this sentiment by acknowledging the alignment of GEMS Education's mission with Dubai South's goals, illustrating the shared vision of advancing the UAE's education landscape.
GEMS Founders School – Dubai South will initially welcome students in FS1 to Year 8, adhering to the National Curriculum for England. This marks the introduction of the fourth GEMS school under the Founders brand and the first within Dubai South. The school will span a 250,000 square-foot campus equipped with modern facilities catering to students aged 3 to 18.
With an expansion plan in place, the school aims to accommodate students up to Year 13 in the forthcoming years. The phased construction will begin with the Early Years and primary schools, eventually reaching a total capacity exceeding 2,500 students. The opening is scheduled for August 2024, in alignment with the new academic year, with registrations starting from June 1.
The campus will feature spacious classrooms, advanced labs dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM), food technology, ICT, along with art and music rooms. Language and Islamic studies will have their dedicated classrooms, and the Foundation Stage will enjoy an indoor play area. The sports infrastructure includes a 25-metre competition-standard swimming pool, a football pitch, and multi-purpose sports halls catering to a variety of sports activities.

The school is set to become a hub for innovation and sustainability, emphasizing research and sustainable practices to keep students ahead in industry advancements.
