English College Dubai Marks New Beginnings With New Principal And Expansion

The English College in Dubai, a long-standing beacon of quality education, recently celebrated a pivotal moment in its journey of over 30 years. The occasion was marked by the formal introduction of Emily Hopkinson as the new principal and the commencement of construction for an impressive new building. This event, under the theme 'New Beginnings’, was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Butti bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, alongside former leaders, alumni, and representatives from the International Schools Partnership (ISP), to which the school now belongs.

During this significant celebration, Bharat Mansukhani, Divisional CEO for ISP – Middle East, emphasized the event's importance, stating, "This 'New Beginnings’ event represents a milestone for The English College, but it also highlights the commitment that ISP makes to continuously supporting our schools in getting better." He further articulated the alignment with Dubai's 2030 Vision, expressing a dedication to fostering innovative learning environments and integrating technology to prepare students for future challenges. Mansukhani assured that under Hopkinson's stewardship, The English College is set to enhance its educational offerings and maintain its commitment to placing learning first.

New Era for English College Dubai

The outgoing principal, Mark Ford, reflected on the institution's enduring legacy and future direction. He remarked, "This event commemorates over three decades of excellence in education that The English College has provided to families in the UAE, but it also looks at the future with the groundbreaking for our new building. Today is a celebration, but also a poignant day for me, as I hand over the reigns as we introduce the new Principal, Emily Hopkinson.

Emily Hopkinson, stepping into the role of principal, expressed enthusiasm about leading the school into a fresh phase of expansion. "I'm thrilled to be leading the school into its new phase of growth. Joining ISP at this juncture of the school's journey means we have exciting plans designed to ensure our pupils receive unparalleled educational opportunities and innovations," Hopkinson shared.

The expansion efforts are ambitious, including the construction of new classrooms, specialized learning areas, and notably, a new three-story STEAM center. This addition will enhance the school's facilities with extra music and art rooms, a robotics suite, a graphics suite, a design technology suite, a textiles suite, and advanced computing and media facilities.

Celebrations highlighted the school's storied past and bright future, featuring performances by the school's choir and presentations of the school's historic milestones. Attendees were treated to an array of pictures and videos that chronicled the school's evolution, culminating in a groundbreaking ceremony that symbolized the start of a new chapter.

Since its establishment in 1992, The English College has prided itself on balancing tradition and innovation. Now part of the expanding global network of ISP schools, which includes over 80 institutions across 22 countries, the school is poised for further growth and development.
