Digital School Collaborates With Kurdistan Regional Government To Enhance Digital Education Initiatives

The Digital School, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has partnered with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq to launch digital education projects. This collaboration aims to enhance the region's education sector by introducing advanced learning tools and methodologies. The initiative seeks to equip future generations with essential skills, supporting the region's digital education strategies.

During an official visit to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the Digital School team inaugurated several digital schools and celebrated the graduation of 2,400 digital teachers. They also launched a programme to train 10,000 more teachers in digital education. The event honoured outstanding educators who led digital transformation efforts and included visits to various digital schools in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

Digital School and Kurdistan Government Launch Education Projects

The partnership has translated The Digital School’s platform into Kurdish and provided Arizona State University-accredited training courses in Kurdish. It digitised the Kurdish national curriculum for grades 1 to 9, covering Arabic, English, Kurdish, Mathematics, and Science. Efforts are ongoing to digitise the curriculum for higher grades.

Alan Hama Saeed expressed his satisfaction with launching The Digital School as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. He stated, "I am pleased to launch The Digital School... aimed at enhancing the educational system." He emphasised using smart technologies in education due to their impact on all life areas.

Tariq Al Gurg from Dubai Cares highlighted that launching The Digital School in Kurdistan is more than improving access to quality education; it invests in future generations. He noted that education must evolve beyond knowledge transmission to become a dynamic force enhancing adaptability amid technological advancements.

The initiative equipped 64 schools with digital learning tools like smart boards and educational resources. Over 40,000 students have registered on The Digital School’s platform for access to the Kurdish curriculum, while 2,000 teachers have joined the digital learning system.

A new initiative between The Digital School and Kurdistan's Ministry of Education aims to provide 10,000 teacher training opportunities through the "Digital Teacher" programme with Arizona State University. This strategic step enhances educators' capacity with modern teaching tools aligned with digital era demands.

Omar Sultan Al Olama praised the partnership's achievements in a short time frame. He valued Kurdistan's support for The Digital School's projects and highlighted its role in adopting modern educational models. He reaffirmed commitment to strengthening cooperation for future-focused learning models empowering new generations.

The visit included recognising top educators involved in The Digital School’s initiatives at a ceremony held by Kurdistan's Ministry of Education. Awards were given for outstanding contributions towards digital transformation efforts within these newly launched schools.

The Digital School team met with regional education leaders to review joint cooperation outcomes on enhancing learning experiences. They visited newly launched schools, inspected equipment provided, and observed classroom activities involving students and teachers.

The Digital School was launched in November 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as an accredited institution offering flexible learning options worldwide. It targets underserved communities such as refugees or displaced individuals through intelligent digital or blended learning methods.
