Bahrain IGA And Nasser AI Unit Join Forces To Propel AI And ICT Innovation

Bahrain's Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced a new agreement with the Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre (NAIRDC). This collaboration aims to foster knowledge exchange and drive cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ICT innovation. The deal focuses on enhancing technical knowledge-sharing related to AI, expanding cooperation, facilitating expertise exchange in training, enabling joint research programs, and promoting entrepreneurship to support national economic development.

The agreement promotes AI research and innovation through the creation of an advanced ecosystem. This includes labs and access to the latest technologies, according to a statement from iGA. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to offer advanced solutions for public and private institutions. Its core objectives are to bolster Bahrain's position as a premier hub for innovation and technological advancement, driving economic growth and sustainable development.

"It aligns with the government's goal of strengthening public-private sector cooperation, investing in technology to improve government operations, and empowering society with innovative, high-quality services," remarked iGA CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed. He signed the deal with NAIRDC Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Noaimi, in the presence of iGA Innovation and Advanced Technologies Director Latifa Al Abbasi and NAIRDC AI Executive Advisor Dr. Jassim Haji.

Al Qaed highlighted the opportunities the MoU creates for students to explore AI applications in various sectors such as education, healthcare, and manufacturing. It also facilitates joint research, workshops, lectures, and seminars. This partnership aims to cultivate a technologically advanced generation, equipping participants with the necessary skills to succeed in the labour market and contribute to societal progress.

Dr. Al Noaimi emphasized the agreement’s promotion of knowledge exchange and technological innovation. It aims to develop highly skilled internationally accredited professionals by enhancing existing competencies and creating innovative solutions that contribute to Bahrain's digital transformation. This aligns with Bahrain's sustainable development goals.

Dr. Al Noaimi also highlighted iGA’s efforts to support a promising future where advanced AI technologies are utilized. NAIRDC shares this vision towards technological advancement through enhanced education. He underscored the importance of such endeavors in contributing to governmental and institutional progress.
