AURAK Career Week Highlights Job Market Trends And New Opportunities
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) recently hosted its Career Week, drawing in 23 companies and organisations to engage with recent graduates and alumni. This event, organized by AURAK's Alumni and Career Services Department, was aimed at helping participants network with industry leaders and learn about the latest trends in recruitment.
The initiative began with a series of career-related discussions led by expert panels and concluded with a career fair, where recruiters presented a range of opportunities available to the university's graduates and alumni. The Career Week focused on several key areas including Tourism and Hospitality, Engineering, Architecture and Interior Design, Real Estate, Education, IT and AI, Event Management, Business, and Social Impact enterprises.

Dr. David A. Schmidt, President of AURAK, highlighted the event's success in bringing together a significant number of recruiters, providing a valuable platform for graduates and alumni to explore various career opportunities. He emphasized the quality of discussions on job hunting trends and the insights offered into the evolving workplace dynamics.
Prof. Stephen C. Wilhite, AURAK's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success/Provost, underscored the Career Week's role in addressing the changing job market landscape. The event aimed to prepare graduates for the complexities of job hunting through expert panel discussions and direct interactions with recruiters.
The schedule featured several expert forums, including a Tourism Industry Expert Panel, a HR Industry Expert Panel, a session titled 'Finding a Job is a Job', and a LinkedIn Session. These forums provided practical advice on navigating job searches and understanding the criteria HR professionals use to select and hire candidates.
Notable companies participating in the Career Week included Anantara Mina Al Arab, Artech Interior Design, and Bin Majid Hotels and Resorts, among others. Major sponsors of the event were the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), Citi Foundation, and Education for Employment, showcasing a broad spectrum of industries and opportunities for AURAK's graduates and alumni.
