ADEK Launches 'Become A Teacher' Initiative To Enhance Educational Diversity In Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched an initiative to welcome individuals from various sectors into teaching roles. This unique programme allows people with diverse skills and life experiences to enter the education field after completing a one-year accredited post-graduate diploma in education. Open to both nationals and expatriates, this initiative aims to enhance diversity among educators and connect theory with practice.

Applicants should possess strong communication skills, a passion for knowledge sharing, and the patience to face new challenges. The programme targets retired or unemployed professionals, stay-at-home parents, or anyone eager to make a meaningful impact on education. ADEK will sponsor 125 candidates for an intensive one-year training course in collaboration with top institutions like Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain University, and Emirates College for Advanced Education.

The curriculum is designed to equip future teachers with essential knowledge and skills for modern classrooms. Participants will learn how to create effective educational plans, tailor activities for optimal learning experiences, and develop assessment tools. The focus is on classroom management, leadership, and communication strategies to foster engaging learning environments.

Participants will also explore innovative teaching methods and the use of technology to enhance teaching effectiveness. Eligible applicants must meet specific age criteria and hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Successful graduates will be employed in charter schools across Abu Dhabi.
