Saudi Arabia Declares No Tax Fines Until End Of 2024
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has extended the "Cancellation of Fines and Exemption of Penalties Initiative" until 31 December 2024. This initiative, mentioned on its website, aims to assist taxpayers in resolving outstanding tax issues without incurring additional penalties.
ZATCA has specified that the exemption covers fines for late registration, late payment, and late filing of returns across all tax laws. It also includes fines for correcting VAT returns and violations related to e-invoicing regulations and other general VAT regulations.
To benefit from this initiative, taxpayers must be registered with the tax system and submit any previously unsubmitted returns. They must also pay all principal tax debts associated with these returns. Taxpayers can request an installment plan from ZATCA, provided they apply while the initiative is active and adhere to the payment schedule approved by the Authority.
It is important to note that penalties related to tax evasion violations are excluded from this initiative. Additionally, any fines paid before the initiative's effective date are not eligible for exemption.
ZATCA has made a simplified guideline available on its website. This guide provides detailed explanations about the types of penalties included in the decision, conditions for benefiting from exempt fines, steps for installment financial dues, and field control violations.
ZATCA encourages taxpayers to take advantage of this initiative before it ends on 31 December 2024.
For any inquiries, taxpayers can contact ZATCA via their unified call center number (19993), which operates 24/7. They can also reach out through X Account (@Zatca_Care), email ([email protected]), or instant conversations on ZATCA's website (zatca.gov.sa).
