Muslim Council Of Elders And Russian Religious Administration Strengthen Cooperation For Tolerance And Dialogue
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, recently met with Shaykh Rawil Ğaynetdin in Russia. Shaykh Ğaynetdin is the Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims in Russia and Chairman of the Council of Muftis. Their discussion focused on enhancing mutual cooperation.
Judge Abdelsalam highlighted the Council's initiatives aimed at fostering tolerance, peace, and dialogue among different cultures and civilisations. He stressed the importance of creating collaborative spaces for religious leaders to reinforce intra-Islamic dialogue. He also praised the efforts of Russia's Religious Administration in promoting diversity and respect in a multi-religious society.

Shaykh Ğaynetdin expressed his admiration for the Muslim Council of Elders' work under Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. He highlighted the Document on Human Fraternity as a significant milestone. This document was co-signed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Pope Francis under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's patronage. It serves as a key reference for interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
Both leaders agreed to intensify cooperation, planning joint initiatives to strengthen religions' roles in addressing global challenges. They aim to involve young people in promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence. These efforts will focus on enhancing understanding across different faiths.
