Grand Imam Of Al-Azhar Engages With Abrahamic Family House Delegation To Foster Interfaith Dialogue
His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, hosted a delegation from the Abrahamic Family House at Al-Azhar's Cairo headquarters. Both parties reiterated their dedication to fostering interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. The delegation was led by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the Abrahamic Family House, and Abdulla Al Shehhi, Acting Executive Director.
The meeting also included Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman el-Dawiny, Under-Secretary of Al-Azhar, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Al Mahrasawi, President of Al Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers. Discussions focused on promoting dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among different religions.

The Abrahamic Family House has played a significant role as a centre for learning and religious practice since its opening in 2023. The organisation expressed gratitude for the Grand Imam's leadership in enhancing respect between religious communities. As a gesture of appreciation, they presented a model of the Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb Mosque.
This mosque was named in honour of the Grand Imam to acknowledge his support for interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak stated, "The Abrahamic Family House is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our shared human heritage through dialogue and constructive cooperation."
Al Mubarak added that their meeting with Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb underscores their commitment to promoting peace and understanding in societies. He expressed delight in presenting the gift as a tribute to the Grand Imam's leadership in supporting peaceful coexistence globally.
The Abrahamic Family House embodies principles from the Document on Human Fraternity signed by Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb and Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019. This document advocates for global peace through dialogue, mutual respect, and interfaith cooperation.

Abdulla Al Shehhi remarked that the Abrahamic Family House has become a space for meaningful encounters where people engage in dialogue and mutual learning through diverse programmes and initiatives. These efforts highlight shared human values and promote pathways to peaceful coexistence.
"The Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb Mosque has become a home to a thriving community," he noted. This meeting reaffirms their commitment to building bridges between diverse religious communities internationally.
