FTA And UAE Media Council Collaborate To Enhance Tax Compliance Awareness Among Content Creators

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA), alongside the UAE Media Council and representatives from the New Media Academy, recently conducted an awareness session for content creators and influencers. This initiative aims to educate them on tax compliance in the UAE. These sessions are part of a broader effort by the FTA to highlight corporate tax and VAT compliance requirements for businesses eligible to pay federal taxes in the UAE.

The FTA's Director-General, Khalid Ali Al Bustani, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration with the UAE Media Council. He stated, "We are pleased to collaborate with the UAE Media Council in organising this important awareness session, which comes as part of the FTA's ongoing engagement with content creators and influencers across numerous awareness campaigns and programmes, all of which enable them to understand tax obligations – for themselves, as well as for relaying information to their audiences."

Enhancing Tax Compliance for Content Creators

During the session, emphasis was placed on increasing taxpayers' understanding of tax procedures. This is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at raising tax awareness among various societal segments. The FTA is committed to supporting business sectors by providing tools that facilitate self-compliance with UAE tax laws, ensuring business continuity and sustainable growth.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, highlighted the importance of equipping content creators with legislative and tax knowledge. He remarked that such efforts are crucial for building a sustainable media sector compliant with its tax responsibilities. Al Shehhi noted that this initiative helps keep pace with digital transformations while enhancing commitment to corporate standards.

The launch of the Moáther Package was also announced during this event. This package offers innovative solutions and accounting software tailored for content creators and influencers. Developed in collaboration with partners, it aims to support these individuals in achieving flexible and convenient tax compliance.

Al Bustani added that influencers play a vital role in spreading knowledge about tax culture. Many have been key partners in successful awareness campaigns over recent years. They have collaborated with the FTA to deliver tax messages innovatively across multiple platforms using simple language.

Promoting Voluntary Compliance

The FTA works with various stakeholders to promote a widespread understanding of relevant legislation and procedures among taxable groups. By employing simplified methods based on international best practices, they aim to encourage voluntary compliance. This approach ensures smooth and accurate tax enforcement aligned with national aspirations for a transparent, fair, and sustainable tax system.

Al Shehhi further emphasised that organising specialised sessions on tax compliance is a qualitative step towards raising professional awareness among content creators in the UAE. He noted that this reflects close integration between media legislation and the UAE's tax system, fostering an environment conducive to sustainable professional growth within the media sector.

Building Professional Awareness

The Secretary-General stressed that expanding partnerships with federal entities is crucial for enhancing media professionals' awareness. Such collaborations enable content creators to contribute actively to economic development within legal frameworks adopted in the UAE.

The session included inquiries from content creators about their specific tax obligations. The FTA team provided detailed explanations on achieving full compliance, ensuring participants left with a clearer understanding of their responsibilities under UAE law.
