Revolutionising Last-Mile Deliveries: Yango Group Launches 30-Minute Robot Grocery Service In Dubai

In a groundbreaking move, Yango Group announced its collaboration with ROOTS to introduce robot-assisted last-mile grocery deliveries in Dubai's Sobha Hartland. This innovative service, initiated after receiving the green light from Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), promises to revolutionise the way groceries are delivered. The robots, capable of autonomously navigating and avoiding obstacles, are designed to complete deliveries within a 30-minute window for locations up to two kilometers away.

The autonomous delivery robots come equipped with advanced technology including high-precision maps and neural networks for recognising traffic signals and obstacles. Their design features a soft suspension and six driving wheels, enabling them to overcome curbs up to 10 centimeters high. With a 60-liter cargo space, these robots can carry a variety of items, ensuring that groceries like yogurt, milk, fresh fruit, and pre-packed meals are delivered promptly and in perfect condition.

Florian Jansen, the founder of ROOTS, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to transform local retail delivery by cutting down delivery times, promoting sustainability, and providing access to fresh organic products.

The ordering process for these robot deliveries is user-friendly; customers can simply choose the robot delivery option when checking out on the ROOTS website. Once the order is ready, a robot is dispatched to the customer's address, who is then alerted via WhatsApp to collect their groceries.

This initiative is not only about convenience but also aligns with Dubai's broader goals for transportation and environmental sustainability. The use of autonomous delivery robots is in sync with the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy, aiming to convert 25% of all transportation to autonomous modes by 2030, thereby cutting CO₂ emissions by 30%.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of The Public Transport Agency, commended the project for its alignment with Dubai's vision for smart mobility solutions that enhance urban life while prioritizing sustainability.

Looking ahead, Yango Group is eager to extend its partnership network within Dubai. Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, shared the company's excitement about contributing to Dubai's autonomous transportation and sustainability ambitions through this partnership.

Yango Group's recent launch of Yango Tech, a B2B AI ecosystem, underscores its commitment to innovation. Yango Tech offers a suite of AI-powered tools aimed at refining logistics, reducing operational costs, and bolstering last-mile delivery efficiency.

By leveraging cutting-edge technology, this initiative promises to enhance the delivery experience for customers, support local businesses, and contribute to the city's environmental goals. This project exemplifies Dubai's ongoing commitment to embracing modern technology to create a more efficient, sustainable, and convenient urban lifestyle.
