WhatsApp Rolls Out New Features For Easier Status Update Viewing
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is testing new features to improve the visibility and accessibility of status updates. The instant messaging platform's update tracker, WABetainfo, identified a new feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.19.4 update on the Google Play Store. This feature enables users to open status updates directly from the viewer list.
The latest update allows beta testers to access status updates by tapping on the profile picture of contacts who have viewed their status. If a green ring appears around the contact's profile picture, users can simply tap it to view the status update. This feature is expected to be available more widely soon.
WhatsApp Enhances Status Update Accessibility
Previously, WhatsApp introduced a feature that displayed a green ring around profile pictures in the chats list for contacts who had shared status updates. This made it easier for users to view status updates without navigating to the dedicated status tab. The new feature builds on this by allowing direct access from the viewer list.
In addition to these changes, WhatsApp is also working on a revamped preview feature for status updates. According to WABetainfo, this new design will offer a cleaner interface without cluttering the screen, regardless of whether users follow any channels or not. This update was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.14.2.
Voice Chat Mode for Meta AI
WhatsApp is reportedly developing a voice chat mode for Meta AI, which currently only supports text inputs. WABetainfo noted that this feature is available in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.18.18 on the Google Play Store. This will allow users to interact with Meta AI using voice commands.
