UAE And Pakistan Forge Partnership To Boost Agricultural Innovation And Date Palm Research

In a significant move to enhance agricultural innovation, the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi, focuses on the development and promotion of Date Palm cultivation and its related industry. The ceremony saw the presence of notable figures including Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary-General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, were the signatories of this pivotal MoU. This collaboration is set to foster joint cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise in the field of date palm cultivation.

The agreement is poised to offer Pakistani farmers an invaluable opportunity to expand their date palm cultivation endeavors, incorporating innovative approaches. The UAE, recognized for its pioneering efforts in this sector, will extend technological support to Pakistan. This assistance is expected to leverage Pakistan’s diverse topography for the advancement of date palm cultivation.

As a direct outcome of this MoU, plans are underway for the First Pakistan International Date Palm Festival in 2024. This event will not only highlight the cultural significance of date palms but also showcase the latest advancements and innovations in date palm cultivation.
