Space42 Launches Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot For Reliable Remote Connectivity

Space42, a UAE-based company specialising in AI-driven SpaceTech, has introduced the Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot (Thuraya MBH) for commercial use. This portable and cost-effective broadband terminal is crafted to provide essential communication capabilities to users in remote locations. As the need for uninterrupted connectivity grows, many areas on land and sea remain beyond the reach of traditional networks, posing risks to safety and delaying emergency responses.

The Thuraya MBH offers a solution by providing dependable satellite connectivity in remote regions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. It operates on the existing Thuraya satellite network and is compatible with the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite. This makes it one of over 15 new products designed for both government and commercial sectors.

Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer at Space42's Space Services, stated that "Thuraya MBH ensures critical communications remain operational in environments where terrestrial networks cannot reach." The terminal combines satellite mobility with current infrastructure to offer reliable connections for civil government and commercial users on land and sea. It supports emergency teams in remote areas and maritime vessels outside coastal coverage.

The platform addresses real operational challenges while maintaining robust security standards essential for mission-critical applications. This launch also advances two of Space42's strategic pillars: being a global Non-Terrestrial-Network (NTN) leader and being a trusted leader in secure connectivity.

Designed for ease of use and durability, Thuraya MBH supports satellite connectivity for vehicles and vessels beyond terrestrial coverage. Its robust design requires minimal setup, ensuring reliable communication during maritime operations or emergency responses outside cellular range. The terminal is ideal for push-to-talk communications, email, file transfers, remote asset monitoring, and IoT applications.

It serves various sectors such as civil government operations, remote utility fieldwork, coastal surveillance, and border security patrols. Maritime users like fishing vessels, yachts, ferries, bulk carriers, and uncrewed surface vessels benefit from its reliable satellite connectivity.

Thuraya MBH meets IP67/IP68 durability standards and includes features like tracking, geofencing, and distress alerts when integrated with third-party systems. Its security architecture provides multi-level access controls, SIM pairing, PIN protection, and firewall management. These ensure secure operations across fisheries, border security, civil government sectors, energy industries, and transportation.

The terminal also offers affordable data plans with a user-friendly interface supporting 15 languages. It's designed to work with external systems for fleet and asset management in mobile environments. An emergency fallback feature allows text-based emails when onboard networks are unavailable.

Starting 19th June 2025, Thuraya MBH will be available through authorised Thuraya service partners. This development marks a significant step towards bridging communication gaps in remote areas while ensuring secure connectivity across various sectors.
