Sharjah Chamber Seeks To Boost Agricultural Investment With Estonia And Russia

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently held pivotal discussions with delegations from the Republic of Estonia and the Russian Federation, aiming to bolster investment cooperation within the agricultural sector. These talks, which unfolded on the sidelines of a business meeting, underscored the SCCI's commitment to fostering international partnerships that could enrich Sharjah's agricultural landscape.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, engaged with Madis Kallas, Minister of Regional Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, exploring avenues for collaborative efforts and enhanced communication between the business communities of both regions. The meeting, hosted at the SCCI’s headquarters, was a platform for exchanging expertise and experiences to propel agricultural projects and investments.

Boosting Agri-Investment in Sharjah

Notable attendees included Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the SCCI; Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector; Fatima Khalifa Al-Muqrab, Director of the International Relations Department in the Chamber; and Tõnis Tänav, Deputy Secretary-General for Fisheries Policy and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture.

Al Owais highlighted Sharjah's strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable agricultural development and achieving food security. He emphasized the Chamber's eagerness to absorb global agricultural expertise to enhance the competitiveness and expansion capabilities of companies within this crucial sector. "Our discussions with the Estonian delegation today reaffirm the Chamber's keenness to learn about global expertise in agriculture. We seek to broaden the base of companies in this vital sector, boost their competitiveness and capacity for expansion, and enable them to initiate new projects," Al Owais stated.

The discussions also touched upon Sharjah's unique strategic location and its appealing investment climate as key factors that make it an attractive destination for investors in agriculture. Sharjah’s role as a commercial and industrial hub further amplifies these advantages.

In a separate meeting with a delegation from the Russian Federation led by Vitaly Stepanov, CEO of the Moscow Export Center, Al Owais explored opportunities to enhance cooperation and trade exchange between Sharjah and Russia in agriculture and food production. The dialogue also covered participation in exhibitions focusing on modern agricultural techniques, aiming to achieve food security through shared knowledge and resources.

The engagement with both Estonian and Russian delegations underscores SCCI’s proactive approach towards international collaboration in agriculture. By leveraging mutual expertise and fostering communication among business communities, SCCI aims to stimulate investment and ensure the success of agricultural projects in Sharjah.

These meetings mark a significant step towards realizing Sharjah’s vision for sustainable agricultural development and food security, highlighting its strategic position as a thriving investment hub in the region.
