Scarlett Johansson Voices Concern Over AI Misuse In OpenAI Dispute
Scarlett Johansson, the actress and producer, has expressed her concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, citing her recent dispute with AI company OpenAI as an example. Johansson spoke about the issue during the release of her new film, Fly Me To The Moon, and emphasized the need for legislation to protect individual rights.
OpenAI's ChatGPT Controversy
In May, Johansson claimed that OpenAI had recreated her voice without her permission for their new ChatGPT system. She was "shocked" and "angered" by this development and criticized OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, for insinuating that she was the voice behind 'Sky' in a social media post. The actress stated that she had declined Altman's offer to voice the ChatGPT 4.0 system last September due to personal reasons.
Johansson believes that this incident demonstrates how vulnerable people are to AI technology and how little protection they have over their work and likeness. In response to the controversy, OpenAI temporarily suspended the use of ChatGPT's 'Sky' voice and acknowledged questions about their choice of voices for the system.
