SANS Institute Boosts Middle East Cybersecurity With Dubai 2024 Event
The global leader in cybersecurity training, SANS Institute, has unveiled its latest initiative, SANS Dubai May 2024, scheduled to take place from May 11-16 at the Hilton Dubai, Palm Jumeirah. This event is tailored to arm cyber professionals with advanced capabilities to detect, combat, and avert the evolving cyber threats, focusing on those keen on enhancing their proficiency in Red Team operations and understanding security control necessities.
Amid rising occurrences of sophisticated cyberattacks that outmaneuver traditional defense mechanisms, there's an escalating pursuit among cybersecurity experts, auditors, engineers, and compliance officers for effective strategies to safeguard their digital landscapes. This urgency is mirrored in the UAE's cybersecurity sector, poised for a significant leap from $0.52 billion in 2023 to an expected $0.95 billion by 2028, highlighting a critical demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals.

The SANS Dubai May 2024 conference is set to offer two intensive courses: SEC565: Red Team Operations and Adversary Emulation, and SEC566: Implementing and Auditing CIS Controls, available through both in-person and live online formats. SEC565 aims to elevate Red Team operations and security measures by teaching adversary emulation, cyber threat intelligence, and strategic engagement planning. Conversely, SEC566 will guide participants on defending their organizations' information by applying, managing, and evaluating the CIS Controls for cybersecurity.
Ned Baltagi, the Managing Director for Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at SANS Institute, emphasized the importance of mastering offensive security strategies to stay ahead of cyber threats. "As cyber threats evolve, it is imperative for organizations in the Middle East to preemptively scrutinize their security frameworks. Our courses are designed to impart critical skills in threat intelligence and adversary emulation, enabling professionals to uncover vulnerabilities, bolster defense mechanisms, and refine incident response strategies," Baltagi remarked.
He further highlighted the challenge organizations face in navigating the complex requirements for compliance and security frameworks. The aim is to equip professionals with the knowledge to protect their information systems through the implementation of fundamental safeguards, assess the effectiveness of these controls, and report their findings to leadership effectively.
Addressing the Human Element in Cybersecurity
As part of its comprehensive program, SANS Dubai May 2024 will also host a Community Night on May 13, titled 'How to Prevent Social Engineering Based on Successful Red Team Exercises'. This session, led by David Mayer, Principal Instructor at SANS Institute, will focus on the critical aspect of the human factor in cybersecurity breaches. Mayer will share insights from successful social engineering campaigns and offer strategies for training employees to resist such tactics. This approach underscores the importance of a holistic defense strategy that encompasses both technical and human elements to fortify organizations against cyber threats.
As cybersecurity threats continue to advance, the SANS Dubai May 2024 event represents a pivotal opportunity for professionals in the field to enhance their skills and knowledge. By focusing on practical solutions and the latest in cybersecurity training, participants will be better equipped to navigate the challenges of protecting their organizations in an increasingly digital world.
