PureHealth Unveils Sakina: A Groundbreaking Mental Health Platform In The UAE
PureHealth has announced the launch of Sakina, the UAE's most extensive and comprehensive mental health platform. This pioneering initiative is designed to offer specialised psychiatry services to every community member, aiming to significantly improve their quality of life. Sakina emerges as a beacon of hope and support, promising to deliver outpatient mental health hubs, neurodiversity centres, inpatient institutes, and specialised satellite clinics, along with homecare services. This suite of services ensures a customised approach to psychiatry for diverse population segments, covering all phases from initial screening and early intervention to complete rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals.
Highlighting the inclusivity of Sakina's services, the platform will cater to the needs of at-risk populations including the elderly, children, People of Determination, women dealing with mental health issues, and individuals battling addiction and eating disorders. The platform's digital companion, Pura, leverages AI technology to offer personalised care and support, ensuring a comprehensive spectrum of psychiatric services is accessible to those in need.
Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer at PureHealth, emphasized the critical importance of mental health alongside physical wellbeing. "The mind is a critical part of a holistic approach to social health and happiness," she noted. PureHealth's vision aligns with creating a society where mental wellbeing is central, facilitated by Sakina's innovative approach to healthcare. The initiative also aims to bridge the gap between mental and physical health through consultation liaison services.
Dr Zain Al Yafai, CEO of Sakina, shared insights into Sakina's mission to make holistic mental healthcare accessible across the UAE. By integrating SEHA's comprehensive network and leveraging digital technologies, Sakina aims to provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. This approach places Sakina at the heart of community healthcare, ensuring services are accessible to even the most vulnerable individuals.
The Sakina network boasts 34 satellite clinics, two mental health hubs, two specialised neurodiversity centres, and nine integrated clinics. With a dedicated team of 628 clinical professionals and 77 administrative support staff, the platform is well-equipped to offer psychiatric assistance and resources through a tiered care approach. This approach focuses on children, adolescents, and adults, including seniors, catering to all mental health concerns across the lifespan.
PureHealth's collaboration with numerous public and private organisations underscores its commitment to enhancing accessibility, raising awareness, and fostering social connectivity. This partnership aims to create innovative mental health services, including school-based mental health programmes, crisis helplines, and corporate wellness initiatives. SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth, plays a pivotal role in this policy by facilitating the shift of mental health treatment from specialised facilities to community and primary care settings.
