PlanRadar's SiteView: Elevating Construction Projects With AI-Powered 360 Reality Capture

PlanRadar, a leading platform in the digital construction, real estate, and facilities management sector, is set to revolutionize the industry with its latest addition, the AI-powered 'SiteView' feature. This innovative feature is designed to enhance the platform's comprehensive documentation, communication, and reporting capabilities by allowing users to capture 360° imagery of construction projects effortlessly.

Group Co-CEO Ibrahim Imam highlights the significance of SiteView, stating, "This feature's a game changer for PlanRadar users, combining the easy-to-use experience with the highest levels of accuracy, making it possible to achieve complete visual as-builts and field, progress, and photo documentation, in place of taking thousands of photos." SiteView enables project participants to effectively look 'behind the wall' to inspect what has been built or installed, potentially reducing the need for rework.

AI-Powered SiteView Transforms Construction

The process of using SiteView is straightforward. Construction teams can walk a site with a 360° camera attached to a helmet, and the feature does the rest. Images are automatically transferred from the camera to the app and aligned with a 2D plan of the path walked, ready for review in PlanRadar shortly after completion. This efficiency simplifies the documentation of visual 'as-builts' and maintains any required visual site documentation.

Additionally, SiteView includes a compare feature that allows users to view images captured on different dates side by side, aiding in progress tracking and the identification of any deviations. Chief Product Officer Clemens Hammerl adds, "SiteView reduces on-site inspection time and speeds up team collaboration, allowing a complete view of the site, even when working remotely."

At the core of SiteView's functionality is SLAM technology (Simultaneous Location and Mapping), the same technology that powers autonomous vehicles. This technology surveys unknown environments while moving through them, estimating the path of the site walker on a digital construction plan. AI-powered computer vision algorithms then align this path to the plan, integrating depth estimation and accurate localization.

The introduction of SiteView to PlanRadar's platform, which already boasts features such as document management, reporting, and integration capabilities, adds a new level of functionality. It offers project teams a detailed, 360° overview of activity and progress, enhancing transparency throughout each phase of the construction process. This helps in preventing miscommunication and mitigating potential disputes among all project stakeholders.

With the upcoming launch of SiteView, PlanRadar is not resting on its laurels. The company has plans for ongoing updates, including BIM integration and the ability to link to Tickets on the 360° images, ensuring that SiteView remains at the forefront of digital construction innovation.
