Philips Introduces Advanced Smart Home Products Featuring Palm Recognition

Philips has introduced a range of new products, with the highlight being the Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock. This advanced device integrates a physical key, PIN code, and the Philips mobile app, alongside a built-in palm scanner, making it one of the most sophisticated smart locks of 2024.

The palm scanner in the 5000 Series identifies users by their unique palm vein patterns, offering an almost unhackable security solution for families. The setup is simplified by built-in Wi-Fi, removing the need for an additional bridge. Furthermore, it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

New Smart Home Devices from Philips

Besides the 5000 Series, Philips has also released the Retrofit Lock 3000 Series. This versatile retrofit smart lock can be controlled via a wireless keypad or the mobile app. Additionally, Philips launched the 7000 Series Video Doorbell, which boasts 2K resolution and HDR support for better colour accuracy. It also features low-angle and ultrawide viewing angles to eliminate blind spots.

The Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock includes a doorbell button and chime for added convenience. The button lights up when someone approaches, indicating where to press to alert homeowners. Pressing it sends an alert to the included doorbell chime, which plugs into a standard outlet and offers five volume levels and 38 unique melodies.

Despite its extensive functionality making it larger than some other models, such as the Yale Assure Lock 2, the 5000 Series maintains a sleek appearance. However, it is not as streamlined as some competing devices.

All three products are now available for purchase. The Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock is priced at $360. The Retrofit Lock 3000 Series comes in two options: $260 bundled with the Wireless Key and $220 as a standalone lock. The 7000 Series Smart Video Doorbell is available for $230.

Entering a competitive market with rivals like Yale, Arlo, and Ring, these new Philips products stand out due to their unique features and stylish designs. They offer attractive alternatives to existing options.
