Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Launches In GCC With Enhanced Features, Camera Capabilities, Design Improvements

Nothing recently introduced its eagerly awaited Phone (2a) Plus during a press event in Berlin. The company also an upcoming product that will be revealed on social media soon.

The Phone (2a) Plus is a mid-range smartphone that builds on the success of the Phone (2a). It offers enhanced performance, camera capabilities, and design improvements. The device features the exclusive MediaTek 7350 Pro 5G processor for a smoother user experience.

New Nothing Phone 2a Plus in GCC

Additionally, it includes a new 50 MP front camera sensor for high-quality selfies and comes in new metallic colour options. The Phone (2a) Plus will be available from September 12th across all retail partners in GCC regions at Dh1,649 in UAE and SAR1,749 in Saudi Arabia.

Design Enhancements

The Phone (2a) Plus introduces two new colours: metallic Grey and updated Black. These finishes provide a premium look, reflecting the advanced specifications of the device. The design continues from the Phone (2a), combining engineering and artistry. Components are integrated into the exterior, giving it an anthropomorphic appearance with cameras resembling eyes.

Performance Upgrades

The MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G processor powers the Phone (2a) Plus, making it ideal for gamers. This chipset uses TSMC's 4 nm Gen 2 technology with eight cores running up to 3.0 GHz, offering nearly 10% faster CPU performance than its predecessor. The ARM Mali-G610 MC4 GPU clocks at 1.3 GHz, providing a 30% boost in gaming performance.

Camera Improvements

The Phone (2a) Plus features a triple 50 MP camera system, including a new front camera for superior selfies and video calls. The main sensor has an f/1.88 lens, while the ultra-wide sensor offers a 114º field of view. All three sensors support direct 50 MP photo output, HDR photo capture, and 4K video recording.

"Following the success of Phone (2a), which was a breath of fresh air in its market segment and became our best-selling smartphone, we're thrilled to introduce Phone (2a) Plus," said Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing.

Battery and Charging

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus includes rapid 50W Fast Charging, allowing it to reach one day's power in under 20 minutes—nearly 10% faster than its predecessor. It also features Nothing's largest smartphone battery to date, a robust 5,000 mAh unit that can last up to two days on a full charge.

Display Features

The device boasts a flexible FHD+ 6.7" AMOLED display capable of reproducing over one billion colours with peak brightness of 1300 nits for excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. The screen has thin bezels measuring just 2.1 mm symmetrically on all sides, resulting in an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.65%.

Glyph Interface

The back of the Phone (2a) Plus retains the iconic Glyph Interface from its predecessor. This feature encourages users to rely on light and sound patterns for key information instead of constantly checking their screens.

Sustainability Efforts

The Phone (2a) Plus continues Nothing's commitment to sustainability with a carbon footprint of 53.34 kg CO²e. It incorporates recycled materials such as aluminum, tin, copper foil, steel parts, and sustainably sourced plastics.

Nothing OS / AI Integration

Running on Nothing OS 2.6, the device includes functional widgets for home and lock screens with swipeable views and animations for more information levels. A new News Reporter Widget aggregates daily news using AI technology and reads it aloud via Nothing CFO Tim Holbrow.

"With Phone (3) launching in 2025," Pei added, "Phone (2a) Plus is for those who are excited about Phone (2a) but are seeking even higher performance."

The widget provides curated news from eight genres: business, entertainment, general news, health, science, sports, technology and summarises articles into audio format lasting one minute each.
