IOS 17.5 Beta 2 Rolls Out: Here Are The New Features On Your iPhone

The recent deployment of iOS 17.5 beta 2 to members of the Apple Developer Program introduces a suite of new functionalities, enhancing the user experience for Apple's vast consumer base. This update, arriving just weeks before the anticipated official release of iOS 17.5, marks the fifth major update since the launch of iOS 17 in September, coinciding with the unveiling of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. Among the array of new features, there are five standout additions that promise to enrich the iOS ecosystem.

New Features To Explore In iOS 17.5 Beta 2

One significant update aligns with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA), enabling users within the EU to download and install apps from select third-party websites. Beyond this compliance update, there are other enhancements designed to appeal to a broader audience.

A novel addition for Apple News+ subscribers is the game "Quartiles," where players merge tiles to form words, adding an educational twist to news consumption. This game signifies Apple's effort to blend entertainment with information, providing a more engaging user experience.

Expanded sideloading capabilities are now extended to iPhone users in the EU, allowing them to download apps directly from Apple app developers' websites without the need for the Apple App Store. This follows the introduction of sideloading in iOS 17.4, with iOS 17.5 beta 2 further broadening these capabilities. However, it's noted that this feature remains unavailable for iPad users at this time.

Addressing a previously reported issue, Apple has corrected a bug that mistakenly displayed the Palestinian flag emoji when users typed "Jerusalem" in the Messages app. This fix demonstrates Apple's quick response to feedback from its user community.

For those utilizing the Notes app, a new "Tip" banner has been introduced at the bottom of the interface. This feature aims to assist users in efficiently organizing their notes with the use of tags, checklists, and more, enhancing productivity and note management.

Lastly, the Apple Books app now includes a subtle yet impactful new symbol in the upper-right corner. Tapping on this icon directs users to their Reading Goals page, encouraging a more organized and goal-oriented approach to reading.

The full public release of iOS 17.5 is anticipated in early May, potentially coinciding with the launch of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models. This update not only introduces new features but also reflects Apple's commitment to compliance with international regulations, user engagement, and continuous improvement of its software ecosystem.
