Learn How Mappable's Latest Navigation Innovations Are Setting New Standards For UAE Businesses

Mappable, a global provider of advanced mapping solutions, has introduced new features to its Route & Navigation products. These updates aim to enhance logistics and navigation for businesses in the UAE, addressing evolving consumer demands.

The newly launched features include 'Avoid Custom Zones,’ 'Waypoints Optimization,’ and 'Left Turns Deprioritization’ for trucks. These enhancements are integrated into Mappable's Distance Matrix solution, Retrieving Route Details product, and NaviKit SDK. The Distance Matrix solution calculates travel time and route length between multiple origins and destinations. The Retrieving Route Details product determines the best route based on transport mode, traffic, and weather forecasts. NaviKit SDK allows companies to integrate navigation functionality into their apps.

The 'Avoid Custom Zones’ feature lets users bypass specific areas like residential zones or city centres when planning routes. For instance, truck drivers delivering cargo from Jebel Ali port to Al Quoz can avoid the Al Barsha area by marking it on the map with three points. This feature is available in the Distance Matrix API, Retrieving Route Details API, and NaviKit SDK, providing greater control over routing and improving operational efficiency by avoiding congested or restricted areas.

'Waypoints Optimization,’ available in the Retrieving Route Details product, optimizes travel through multiple points considering traffic jams and weather conditions. By default, waypoints are visited in the order specified in the API request. However, this update generates an optimal route that minimizes both distance and travel time for the entire journey. Businesses can significantly improve delivery times and reduce fuel consumption by optimizing detours around waypoints.

The 'Left Turns Deprioritization’ feature is designed to enhance safety for heavy vehicles by minimizing left turns whenever possible. Recognising that trucks take longer to turn left than right, this feature reduces left turns in routes to improve travel time metrics. If a left turn cannot be avoided, the total journey time will reflect the required time to complete the turn. This feature is integrated into both the Distance Matrix and Retrieving Route Details APIs.
