Instagram Creators To Engage With AI-Powered Chatbots Soon, Meta Reveals
Meta has unveiled a beta version of AI Studio for Instagram, which will enable creators in the US to develop AI-powered chatbots. In the coming weeks, Instagram users can expect to see chatbots from creators and interest-based AIs on the platform, primarily appearing in messaging and clearly labelled as AI, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He made the announcement on the company's Instagram broadcast channel.
Zuckerberg shared images of select creators' Instagram profiles featuring personalised chatbots for interacting with followers. To initiate a conversation with the AI chatbot, followers can click the "Message" button next to the follow button on the creator's profile page. Meta has collaborated closely with creators to develop these AIs, ensuring they can effectively answer questions from followers.
The current AI Studio is still in its infancy, with only the first beta version of the AI chatbots available. Zuckerberg stated that Meta would continue refining them and expanding their availability soon. He also shared a video interview outlining Meta's AI strategy, explaining that these tools allow creators to establish an "AI agent version of themselves" to engage with their community. Furthermore, he revealed that Meta plans to enable users to create "UGC (user-generated content) AI," or a "virtual persona" they want to exist, rather than just an AI version of themselves.
