Transforming Campus Networks: Huawei Launches FTTO Solutions At GITEX GLOBAL 2025
At the GITEX GLOBAL 2025, Huawei took the stage with the "Fiber to Green and Reliable" FTTO Forum, where it brought together more than 100 specialists, clients, and collaborators from various regions, including the Middle East and Central Asia.
The forum served as a platform to delve into the evolution of intelligent campus upgrades through the integration of "FTTO + AI" and to share achievements in the practical application of these technologies.

David Shi, vice-president of Huawei's ICT Marketing and Solution Sales, stated, "FTTO solution is a crucial choice by Huawei for all-optical AI era," emphasising that it aims to lay a digital groundwork for campuses capable of supporting 10GE all-optical connectivity.
This foundation is built on five key pillars: high bandwidth, low latency, extensive connectivity, high reliability, and energy efficiency. Shi expressed an eagerness to strengthen collaborations with various stakeholders to foster the adoption of FTTO, thereby speeding up the realization of AI's potential across numerous campuses.
In the realm of campus network development, the advent of Wi-Fi 7 and local AI deployment has ushered in a new paradigm, according to Gavin Chen, vice-president of Huawei's Enterprise Network Marketing & Solution Sales Department. He described how the "Fiber-in, Copper-out" model has become the new norm, offering a glimpse into Huawei's F5G-A FTTO solution.
This innovation promises a green and cost-effective network with a remarkable 30-year lifecycle, supporting seamless bandwidth scaling and a simplified two-layer architecture. Central to this architecture is a passive splitter that obviates the need for Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) rooms. Chen proudly noted that Huawei's approach has already been implemented in over 12,000 smart campuses globally, underlining a commitment to fiber as a cornerstone for AI advancements.
Huawei's latest F5G-A FTTO series is set to revolutionise AI-driven digital transformation by offering unparalleled broadband performance, simplified architecture, smart connectivity, and intelligent sensing.
The series boasts the industry's first commercial symmetric 50G PON, which quintuples the bandwidth of earlier versions and supports upgrades from 10G to 50G PON. This leap in technology ensures high-speed connectivity for demanding applications like VR classrooms and digital pathology labs.
By streamlining network infrastructure, the F5G-A FTTO series significantly reduces cabling costs and facilitates multi-network convergence, cutting the total cost of ownership by 30%. Furthermore, AI-powered Wi-Fi anti-interference technology improves access performance, while optical APs with Channel State Information (CSI) sensing advance real-time monitoring and energy management, enhancing the network's overall intelligence.
Huawei's innovation extends to tailored solutions for sectors such as healthcare, education, office environments, and hospitality. In healthcare, the symmetric 50G PON terminal drastically reduces AI-driven analysis times, delivering a 12x efficiency improvement. For education, Huawei's 16-port XGS-PON Pro facilitates unified access for essential devices, ensuring lag-free connectivity.
The office sector benefits from direct fiber access to desktops with robust security features, while the hospitality industry enjoys enhanced indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi connectivity, improving guest experiences.
As Huawei looks to the future, it remains dedicated to pioneering technological advancements and expanding its collaboration with partners across various industries. The goal is to uncover new applications, develop innovative solutions, and set future-oriented industry standards.
