Pixel 9 Series Specifications

The base Pixel 9 will come with a 6.3-inch display and 12GB of RAM. Its rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel wide lens and a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens. The front camera is a 10.5-megapixel selfie shooter.

The two Pixel 9 Pro models will also have a 6.3-inch screen but will boost RAM to 16GB. They add a third rear camera: a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. The front camera on these models jumps to an impressive 42 megapixels.

Under the Hood

All Pixel 9 phones will be powered by Samsung's Tensor G4 chipset, which isn't significantly different from the Tensor G3. They are also expected to feature Adaptive Touch capability for better screen reliability under various conditions.

Another upgrade includes switching to ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, which are reportedly more effective than the current optical sensors. Storage options for the base model include 128GB or 256GB, while the Pro variants offer up to 512GB.

Generative AI Features

Google first mentioned generative AI features for the Pixel 9 series in July 2024, specifically highlighting the Pixel 9 Pro as "built for the Gemini era." These features aim to enhance user experience through advanced AI capabilities.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The fourth phone in the lineup is the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Initially thought to be called Pixel Fold 2, Google clarified it would continue with Gemini AI integration. This model is rumored to be narrower and slimmer than its predecessor and recent competitors like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The redesigned rear camera module now has a smaller bump, and the selfie camera has been moved to the screen's corner. Spotted at a Starbucks in Japan, the phone was seen unfolded in an official case.

The Pro Fold will also come with three rear cameras: a primary 48-megapixel lens, a secondary ultrawide lens of 10.5 megapixels, and a telephoto lens of 10.8 megapixels. The front camera remains at 10.5 megapixels.

Additional Hardware Announcements

Apart from phones, Google is expected to reveal new versions of its Pixel Buds Pro and introduce a new Google Watch during the event.

The entry-level Pixel models will feature Samsung's Exynos 5400 modem supporting two-way satellite connectivity for enhanced emergency features in areas without coverage.

This year's Made by Google event promises significant updates across multiple product lines, setting high expectations among tech enthusiasts and industry insiders alike.
