Eaton Introduces 9395X UPS For Enhanced Data Centre Efficiency And Space Utilization

Eaton, a leader in intelligent power management, has recently inaugurated a new, advanced campus in Helsinki. This move is aimed at enhancing the company's ability to produce and distribute Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, highlighting the introduction of their novel Eaton 9395X model. The new facility marks a significant step in Eaton's commitment to advancing energy-efficient solutions.

The Eaton 9395X UPS, now being manufactured at the Helsinki campus, sets itself apart by offering a footprint up to 30% smaller than that of comparable UPS models. This reduction in size is paired with superior energy efficiency, achieved through the use of silicon carbide converters. For data centres, this means an easier path to reducing carbon emissions as the need for electricity diminishes.

Eaton s New 9395X UPS Boosts Data Centre Efficiency

Boasting a maximum power rating of up to 1700 kVA—a figure expected to increase in the near future—the Eaton 9395X excels in power density and resilience. This model enhances the robust features of the Power Xpert 9395P UPS, further establishing itself as an Eaton EnergyAware UPS with grid interactive capabilities. Such features allow data centre operators to not only cut down on ownership costs but also to generate revenue by offering demand response services that support a renewable-heavy grid.

Qasem Noureddin, Commercial Director at Eaton Middle East, explained the significance of incorporating silicon carbide-based converters into the design of the Eaton 9395X. He noted, "This model achieves an efficiency of 97.5% in double-conversion mode. Its reduced need for cooling and floorspace, by up to 30%, frees up more room for IT equipment that generates revenue. Additionally, its top exhaust and lack of rear clearance requirement mean savings on space and lower installation costs."

The Eaton 9395X's design facilitates easy deployment, featuring ready-built sub-assemblies and a simplified installation process reliant on an inter-cabinet busbar design and self-configuring power modules. This thoughtful engineering enables large systems to be configured with a single click, while built-in reliable self-monitoring systems reduce the necessity for frequent maintenance checks, thus saving further costs. The UPS's HotSync patented load-sharing technology boosts reliability by eliminating single points of failure, ensuring safe and dependable operation by synchronizing parallel power modules and UPSs without needing a communication link or synchronization signals.

Accompanied by a comprehensive life-cycle analysis and eco passport, the Eaton 9395X UPS demonstrates its minimal environmental impact throughout its lifecycle—from supply chain and manufacturing to end-of-use. This transparency supports facility-level carbon emission calculations, aligning with Eaton's goal of delivering sustainable, safe, and reliable solutions to help customers meet their environmental targets.
