Dubai's RTA Celebrates Doubling Of Digital Nol Card Usage
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported a significant uptick in the adoption of its digital services, particularly with the nol Pay App on Samsung smartphones. This surge is evident from the doubling of digital nol card usage since the service's inception in January 2024, highlighting the city's progressive embrace of technology in public transportation.
The nol Pay App's user base has impressively grown to over 950,000, while sales of digital cards on Samsung smartphones have soared to more than 6,000, marking a 100% increase over the past three years. Additionally, the app has facilitated 4,355 digital transactions, underscoring its broad acceptance and the convenience it offers to users.
Salah Al Marzooqi, Director of Automated Fare Collection Systems at RTA, lauded the initiative. "This innovative initiative empowers Samsung users to seamlessly conduct transactions using the digital nol card directly from their smartphones, ensuring smooth travels across Dubai's public transport network. As the number of nol Pay App users surpassed 950,000, from the overall traditional and digital 5 million nol overall users' number," he remarked.
Al Marzooqi also highlighted the versatility of digital nol cards, noting their applicability beyond public transport to include payments at various retail outlets, thus enhancing user convenience and efficiency citywide.
The introduction of digital nol cards for Samsung smartphone users simplifies access to Dubai Metro and other public transport options, enabling cashless transactions and payments on-the-go with a mere tap. This move not only streamlines the commuting experience but also cements Dubai's status as a frontrunner in technological innovation within the region.
