MENA Region To Host Largest Web3 Hackathon By Bybit And DMCC

Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has partnered with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) Crypto Centre to launch a significant hackathon in the MENA region. This event aims to foster Web3 and blockchain innovations, encouraging participants to devise solutions for real-world issues.

The hackathon, organised by Bybit and DMCC Crypto Centre, is supported by notable partners such as Hacken, DWF Labs, Mezzan Ventures, and Injective. Community and media partners include Solana Superteam UAE, BeWater, HackQuest, Web3 TV, CollegeDAO, and Cointelegraph.

Accelerating Web3 Innovation in MENA

This initiative forms part of Bybit and DMCC's broader strategy to make Web3 opportunities accessible to innovators and entrepreneurs in the region. Through collaborations like this hackathon and an upcoming flagship conference, they aim to nurture the next generation of talent and drive growth in the digital economy.

Applications for the hackathon are open from September 1 to October 5, 2024. A shortlist of ten standout teams will be announced on October 21. These finalists will then present their projects to a panel of judges on Demo Day on November 20.

The second edition of the Bybit and DMCC Hackathon focuses on harnessing innovative Web3 solutions to tackle real-world challenges. Participants can explore areas such as tokenization, artificial intelligence, Web3 infrastructure, zero-knowledge protocols, digital identity, and DEPIN.

A prize pool of 100,000 USDT makes this hackathon the largest of its kind in MENA. Besides financial rewards, project teams will gain exclusive access to industry leaders and media partners. They will also have the chance to pitch live in Dubai to a global audience of over 33,000 viewers on Demo Day.

Last year's hackathon opened up Web3 opportunities for crypto innovators and new founders. Three winners were rewarded with $100,000. Out of over a hundred projects submitted, ten top teams excelled in areas like GameFi, DeFi, Web3 infrastructure, educational NFTs, and sustainable blockchain solutions.
