Apple Declines Meta AI Integration Due To Privacy Worries, Reports Reveal
Bloomberg recently reported that Apple is not planning to integrate Meta's AI models into its devices, contradicting earlier claims by the Wall Street Journal. According to Bloomberg, Apple had briefly discussed a potential partnership with Meta back in March, while exploring integration options with various companies.
However, Apple decided against incorporating Meta's AI models into iPhones due to privacy concerns and potential damage to its image. The Cupertino-based tech giant has consistently criticized Meta's privacy practices. Instead of partnering with Meta, Apple introduced its own suite of AI features under the Apple Intelligence brand and announced a collaboration with OpenAI for ChatGPT integration.
Apple's openness to other AI models
Despite not partnering with Meta, Apple remains open to integrating different AI models into its devices. During the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), the company confirmed plans to work with Google on deploying Gemini.
Meta's reliance on its apps
Although Meta will not have direct integration with millions of devices, it can still rely on its popular apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Messenger, which boast billions of users worldwide. In fact, Meta recently launched its AI chatbot for users in India, its largest market globally.
