Apple Unveils Groundbreaking 2025 iPhone Lineup with Innovative 'Air' Model
Apple is reportedly planning a major revamp of its iPhone lineup starting in 2025. According to Bloomberg, the company will introduce an iPhone "Air" model in the iPhone 17 series next year. This new model will be positioned between the standard iPhone and the Pro models.
iPhone "Air" Model
The report suggests that Apple is searching for the ideal "fourth iPhone model" after experimenting with the iPhone mini and Plus models, neither of which have been significant sellers. The new "Air" model will resemble the standard iPhone but feature a sleeker design.
This year's iPhone 16 will not see substantial upgrades over the current generation. The primary selling point for these new iPhones will be Apple Intelligence, according to Bloomberg.
Slimmer Devices
Earlier reports indicated that Apple has successfully made its devices thinner while incorporating major upgrades. The new iPad Pro 2024 features a chassis that is just 5.1mm thick, making it Apple's thinnest device to date. Despite its slim profile, it includes significant upgrades such as a tandem OLED display.
Apple aims to apply this approach to other devices, including one of the models in the iPhone 17 series. However, a slimmer variant of the standard iPhone 17 is only a step towards more significant changes in overall design. A slimmer Pro model is not expected before 2027.
Foldable Devices
Apple is also expected to release a foldable iPhone model, although the company is currently prioritising a foldable iPad. Analyst Jeff Pu mentioned that Apple is working on multiple foldable devices, including a flip-style iPhone and an "all-screen MacBook" or iPad.
Pu stated that the foldable MacBook/iPad is on track for unveiling in the second quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone will likely launch towards the end of 2026.
The introduction of these new models marks Apple's continuous efforts to innovate and adapt to market demands. With these changes, Apple aims to offer more diverse options for consumers while maintaining its reputation for sleek and advanced technology.
