Apple Unveils iPhone 16 Series: Awaiting The Game-Changing iOS 18.2 Update

The iPhone 16 series is set to launch today, but it will not include advanced Apple Intelligence features. While some AI functionalities are expected next month, more sophisticated generative AI tools like Genmoji for creating emojis and Image Playground for image generation will be available with the iOS 18.2 update, either in December or early next year.

iOS 18.2: Anticipated Features

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple plans to delay the release of its new image-generation features until iOS 18.2, which is anticipated in December. These tools include a new app called Image Playground and the Genmoji feature. Additionally, Apple might integrate OpenAI's ChatGPT into Siri with this update.

Image Playground is a dedicated app for iPhones that will allow users to generate images using text input. According to the preview shown by the company at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the app will let users select various aspects of the generated image, such as themes, costumes, places, and more. While it will be a separate app, Image Playground will be integrated into the iOS, enabling users to generate images in other apps, such as Notes.

Genmoji: Custom Emoji Creation

The Genmoji feature will enable users to create custom emojis directly from the keyboard within the Messages app. Users can describe the emoji they want Apple Intelligence to create, and the AI will generate previews based on their input. They can then select and send these custom emojis in conversations. Additionally, users can use pictures from the Photos app to generate custom emojis.

At WWDC 2024, Apple announced that Siri would receive advanced AI capabilities through integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Once available, users can request Siri to send queries to ChatGPT. This integration will also extend across the system, allowing responses from ChatGPT in native apps like Mail and Notes.

Apple's decision to delay these features aims to ensure they are fully developed before release. The inclusion of ChatGPT in Siri is expected to enhance user experience significantly by providing more accurate and context-aware responses.
