Apple Unveils iOS 26: The Revolutionary 'Liquid Glass' Update

Apple's latest iOS 26 update introduces a striking new design element known as Liquid Glass. This feature aims to enhance user experience by making apps and system interactions more visually engaging while maintaining familiarity. Liquid Glass is designed to reflect and refract its surroundings, adding a dynamic and expressive touch to content.

Messages now offer more control over incoming communications by allowing users to screen messages from unknown senders. These messages appear in a dedicated folder until the user decides how to handle them. Additionally, iOS 26 introduces custom backgrounds and polls in conversations. Apple Intelligence can detect when a poll might be useful and suggest one accordingly.

CarPlay and Entertainment Updates

CarPlay receives updates with iOS 26 that enhance its usability while driving. A new compact view for incoming calls lets drivers see who's calling without missing important information like directions. Live Language Translation Features

The live translation feature supports text translations in Messages for languages including English, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. In FaceTime calls with someone speaking a different language, on-screen text translations appear during the conversation.

For voice calls using live translation in iOS 26, users hear a synthesized voice translating the conversation into their chosen language. Currently supported languages include English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Additional language support is expected later this year.

Spam Call Blocking Enhancements

The update also introduces improved spam call blocking features. Users can filter out texts and calls from unknown sources automatically. Unknown callers won't ring your phone but will hear a message prompting them to explain their call's purpose before you decide whether to answer.

This opt-in feature helps reduce unwanted interruptions from spam calls or texts that could lead to scams or malicious sites. You can enable these settings through the Phone app's options under Call Filtering or Screen Unknown Callers.

Additional Features in iOS 26

iOS 26 also offers new customization options for alarms in the Clock app by allowing users to set snooze durations between one minute and fifteen minutes instead of the default nine minutes.

The Photos app has been redesigned again with separate sections for Library and Collections at its bottom interface for easier navigation compared with previous versions where everything was combined into one chaotic view.

The Passwords app now stores records of previous passwords so you can retrieve old ones if needed when new ones fail authentication checks during login attempts on websites or apps requiring credentials stored within Apple's built-in password manager.
