Apple Enables Direct Playlist Transfers To YouTube Music: Easy Guide
Apple has introduced a new feature allowing users to transfer playlists from Apple Music to YouTube Music. This marks the first time Apple has provided native support for such functionality, although third-party apps have previously enabled similar transfers. A support document detailing the process has also been released by Apple.
To initiate the transfer, users need an active Apple Music subscription and a YouTube account. The process begins by visiting Apple's Data and Privacy page (privacy.apple.com) and signing in with an Apple ID. Users should then select the "Transfer a copy of your data" option and follow the on-screen instructions.
Apple Music to YouTube Music: Transfer Details
Apple clarified that transferring playlists does not delete them from Apple Music. Only playlists created by users, including collaborative ones they own, can be transferred. Shared non-collaborative and curated playlists are not eligible for transfer.
The transferred playlists will only include songs available on YouTube Music since actual music files are not moved. Podcasts, audiobooks, and user-uploaded tracks within a playlist will not be transferred.
How to Transfer Playlists
After selecting the "Transfer a copy of your data" option on Apple's Data and Privacy page, users must sign in to their YouTube Music account where they want the data transferred. Apple will notify users via email when the transfer starts and completes. Progress can also be checked on the Data and Privacy page.
Once completed, the playlist from Apple Music will appear in the YouTube Music Library. If the transfer is interrupted, any already transferred playlists will still be visible in YouTube Music.
This new feature simplifies moving music collections between platforms, enhancing user convenience without relying on third-party applications.
