Abu Dhabi Customs Achieves Record 72% Growth In Digital Transactions For 2023

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has announced a significant leap in digital customs transactions throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi's ports in 2023. This year, there was a remarkable 72 percent increase in digital transactions compared to the previous year, marking the highest growth rate since the initiation of its strategic transformation journey. This achievement underscores Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to enhancing its customs ecosystem through digital innovation and aligning with international best practices.

Among the total volume of customs transactions, proactive and automated services represented 42 percent, witnessing a 24.3 percent growth during 2023. Abu Dhabi Customs has introduced a proactive insurance refund service for its customers within the Emirate. Additionally, various permits and certificates, including truck transit permits, permits for the entry and exit of goods from the customs centre, customs certificates for vehicles, and customs entry and exit certificates, are now issued automatically alongside the preparation of the customs declaration.

Record Digital Growth for Abu Dhabi Customs

Customs declarations saw a 6 percent increase over the past year. Furthermore, pre-arrival customs clearance transactions accounted for 47 percent of all customs clearance procedures at various customs ports across the emirate, marking a 20 percent growth compared to 2022. This indicates a significant improvement in efficiency and operational processes at Abu Dhabi Customs.

Enhancements in Express Shipping and Bonded Warehouses

The transactions conducted by express shipping companies grew by 6 percent. Remarkably, customs clearance activities in bonded warehouses experienced a substantial increase of 150 percent. These figures reflect the successful efforts of Abu Dhabi Customs to streamline and expedite shipping and warehousing procedures.

Improvements in Clearance Time and Customer Satisfaction

In 2023, clearance time saw an improvement of 16 percent, demonstrating Abu Dhabi Customs' dedication to reducing wait times and enhancing service delivery. Moreover, through the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform "TAMM", Abu Dhabi Customs services achieved a high score of 95 percent on the customer satisfaction index. This high level of satisfaction highlights the effectiveness of digital transformation initiatives implemented by Abu Dhabi Customs.
