Unlock Your Future: RGIPT B.Tech Admissions Open with Full Fee Waivers

On 24 April 2026, the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology celebrated a major milestone, unveiling a series of vital academic and student-focused infrastructure projects. This was followed by a press conference at 5:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Director (2nd Floor, Administration Building). The occasion underscored the Institute’s ongoing dedication to bolstering its academic framework and improving the student experience via targeted infrastructure upgrades. The briefing featured the Dean (Student Affairs), Dr. Koushik Guha Biswas; Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Amit Ranjan; and Assistant Dean (Research & Development), Dr. Ankur Pandey, with the Honourable Director, Prof. Harish Hirani, presiding over the session.

During his address to the media, Prof. Harish Hirani detailed the Institute’s strategy to blend academic rigor with comprehensive student growth. He highlighted RGIPT’s dedication to innovation and practical learning, backed by a strong pre-incubation environment. Through the Design and Innovation Centre (DIC), students are actively tackling real-world problems. This work has yielded several practical solutions, such as a mobile application for night canteen services, an online grievance redressal system for hostel maintenance and mess management, a digital campus entry–exit system, and ERP-based platforms supporting academic processes. Such achievements demonstrate high levels of student involvement and highlight the Institute’s commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.

Prof. Hirani also announced that, starting this academic year, admissions to the B.Tech programme will be based exclusively on JEE Advanced, a move that underscores the Institute’s dedication to maintaining high academic standards and quality intake. In describing the unique nature of the RGIPT curriculum, he pointed to its emphasis on real-life problem solving, early-stage internships from the first year, structured summer training programmes, and project-based learning.

He added that the Senate recently reviewed a proposal to implement merit-based tuition fee waivers designed to encourage academic achievement. Under the proposed framework, students achieving a rank up to 1000 in JEE Advanced would qualify for a 100% tuition fee waiver, while those ranked between 1001 and 2500 would receive a 75% waiver, ranks between 2501 and 5000 would get a 50% waiver, and ranks between 5001 and 8000 would be eligible for a 30% waiver.

The Director also updated the media on the major infrastructure projects launched throughout the day. These include the renovated Director’s Corridor, designed to improve administrative efficiency and confidentiality; new, consolidated areas for the Departments of Energy and Human Sciences and Mathematical Sciences, which will facilitate better faculty coordination, interaction, and research collaboration; and the foundation stone laying for a swimming pool, highlighting the Institute’s focus on physical health and holistic growth. Furthermore, a food court and new recreational amenities, including box cricket and box football, were opened in the hostel zone to enhance student life and support overall well-being.

Dr. Koushik Guha Biswas, Dean (Student Affairs), underscored the significance of engagement, discipline, and holistic growth in student welfare, observing that these newly opened facilities are set to greatly improve the campus experience.
