Zayed Higher Organisation Initiates Programme To Localise Special Education Teaching For Emirati Professionals

Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) is dedicated to improving job prospects for People of Determination by offering vital resources and support. The organisation collaborates with UAE entities to localise specialised professions, such as special education teaching. This localisation aims to enhance humanitarian services tailored to People of Determination.

ZHO stresses that localising the special education field will improve services for People of Determination. Training Emirati professionals ensures they meet high standards, facilitating effective communication and service delivery. Sharing cultural backgrounds, traditions, and societal values enhances this process.

To support the UAE’s Emiratisation strategy, ZHO has introduced a four-year academic programme. This initiative trains Emirati male jobseekers in special education. Currently, ZHO employs 161 Emirati special education teachers and plans to expand through partnerships with UAE institutions.

The programme includes 30 male students enrolled in special education studies, with one already employed. Strategic partners like United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), Abu Dhabi Government Empowerment Department, and National and Reserve Service Authority back this initiative.

UAEU selects students from national service graduates for a specialised programme in special education. Sub-specialisations include intellectual disabilities, autism, and multiple disabilities. The university also offers field training and practical courses to boost students' skills.

Role of Strategic Partners

The Abu Dhabi Government Empowerment Department manages candidate selection, monitors trainee performance, and facilitates employment contracts. It also covers student stipends throughout the four-year programme.

ZHO oversees student selection, training supervision, and ensures employment within 90 days post-graduation. The National and Reserve Service Authority works with all entities to identify candidates who have completed national service for enrolment.

This initiative aims to bolster the local workforce in special education by equipping Emirati professionals with necessary skills. These efforts ensure effective support for People of Determination across the UAE.
