ZHO And Egyptian Ministry Unite To Host Iftar Banquets For People Of Determination

In a significant gesture of goodwill and solidarity, the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, marked Zayed Humanitarian Work Day by hosting a grand iftar banquet. This event, held during the holy month of Ramadan, spanned across 27 governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt. It was part of the Bridges of Hope programme, receiving generous sponsorship from ADQ. The banquet saw participation from a diverse group, including people of determination, their families, and professionals from 68 communication centres dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.

The collective iftar brought together 11,242 attendees, comprising 5,281 people of determination, an equal number of guardians or companions, and 680 specialists from the communication centres. This initiative not only celebrated the spirit of Ramadan but also aimed at fostering a sense of community and support among the most vulnerable sections of society.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, highlighted the dual objective of this initiative: to honour Zayed Humanitarian Work Day through an act of charity and to bolster social solidarity. By gathering individuals of determination with their families and the staff from various centres in a unified event, the initiative sought to strengthen communal ties and extend support to those in need.

The collaboration between ZHO and the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports under the Bridges of Hope programme has been notably successful. Sponsored by ADQ and backed by ZHO, this programme has significantly contributed to transferring valuable experience and expertise in supporting families of people with disabilities across Egypt. One of its key achievements includes the rapid development of 68 communication centres in less than a year and a half—a task initially projected to take three years. This expedited progress was made possible through the unwavering support from various state agencies in Egypt, ultimately benefiting up to 17,000 people of determination across all 27 governorates.

This initiative stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and solidarity in making a tangible difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families. By bringing together various stakeholders in a collective celebration and support network, ZHO and its partners have underscored the importance of inclusivity and community support in addressing the needs of people of determination.
