Zayed Higher Organisation Delegation Explores Disability Care And Rehabilitation In Russia

A delegation from the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) recently visited the Sverdlovsk Oblast region in the Russian Federation. The visit aimed to explore care and rehabilitation practices for People of Determination. The delegation was led by Abdullah Al-Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary-General, and included Abdullah Al Kamali, ZHO’s Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector, along with department directors.

The delegation engaged in discussions with Sverdlovsk officials to enhance collaboration in scientific, educational, cultural, and sports fields. The primary focus was on improving living standards for People of Determination. Several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed during the visit.

Representing the UAE as the guest of honour at the 2024 International Exhibition for the Social Technology Forum, Al-Humaidan presented a paper on assistive technology, social employment, and support for People of Determination. His presentation highlighted employment policies, evaluations, and various initiatives aimed at supporting this community.

A significant Memorandum of Understanding was signed with H. Turner National Medical Research Centre for Children’s Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery in Russia. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in diagnostics, surgery, and rehabilitation for children with orthopedic conditions.

Partnership with Ural Federal University

ZHO also established a partnership with Ural Federal University in Russia. This collaboration focuses on mutual research and development in psychology and psychiatry. Both parties will work together as co-authors to create an Emirati-Russian psychological dictionary.

Site Visits and Joint Sports Event

The delegation visited several key facilities including the National Medical Research Hospital for Paediatric Orthopedics and Trauma, the Foundation for Prosthetics and Orthotics in Sverdlovsk Oblast, the Regional Center for Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, the Cognitive Technology Centre, and the Equestrian Country Club in Sverdlovsk.

A joint sports event was also organised featuring exhibition matches between ZHO’s wheelchair volleyball and basketball teams and their Russian counterparts at the Sverdlovsk sports hall.
