Zayed Higher Organisation To Launch Training For Autism Spectrum Disorders In September

Zayed Higher Organisation (ZHO) has introduced a specialised masterclass training programme in collaboration with the Higher Institute for Psychomotor Therapy (ISRP) from France. This programme focuses on the application of psychomotor therapy (PMT) for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The training will coincide with the World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of ZHO's board.

Psychomotor Therapy (PMT), a rehabilitation method, was developed by French physical therapist Giselle Soubiran in the early 1950s at the Henri Roussel Sainte-Anne Children's Psychiatry Hospital in Paris. This therapy aims to address neurological and bodily functions, making it particularly effective for ASD patients. The upcoming training will provide healthcare professionals with a thorough understanding of PMT and its specific application to ASD.

ASD Training Programme in September

The World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 marks its first occurrence in the Middle East. Scheduled from 23rd to 25th September, the event will revolve around the theme 'Work and Employment'. Organised by ZHO for People of Determination, it partners with Rehabilitation International (RI), the International Social Security Association (ISSA), and the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Office within the Department of Culture and Tourism.

This masterclass is designed specifically for healthcare professionals working in rehabilitation sectors, especially those dealing with ASD patients. The training will be divided into two comprehensive sessions. The initial session will delve into understanding the psychomotor system, exploring its neurological and bodily functions. Participants will gain insights into how ASD impacts psychomotricity, laying a foundation for future sessions focused on evaluating psychomotor rehabilitation strategies for children with ASD.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, commented on this partnership: "Working with our partners at ISRP, we are committed to supporting the rights of People of Determination here in the UAE and around the world, in line with the ambitions of the World Congress on Rehabilitation in Abu Dhabi this September."

Commitment to Innovative Rehabilitation

This initiative highlights ZHO and ISRP's dedication to pioneering innovative rehabilitation methods and improving care quality for People of Determination. Attendance at this masterclass is limited to 30 participants to ensure an interactive and focused learning environment.

The training programme aims to equip healthcare professionals with an in-depth understanding of PMT's application to ASD. Notable parts include evaluating PMT systems to provide insights into ASD's impact on psychomotricity. This sets a solid foundation for future sessions concentrating on evaluating psychomotor rehabilitation strategies for children affected by ASD.

This exclusive training programme underscores ZHO's commitment to enhancing rehabilitation methods and supporting People of Determination globally. By collaborating with ISRP, ZHO aims to bring advanced therapeutic techniques to healthcare professionals in the UAE.
