Zayed National Museum Set To Open On December 3, 2025, In Saadiyat Cultural District

The Zayed National Museum, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District of Abu Dhabi, is set to open its doors to the public on 3rd December 2025. This museum will offer an immersive experience that showcases the history of the UAE from ancient times to today. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the museum's architecture guides visitors through a journey tracing human habitation's earliest evidence. The museum's journey begins at Al Masar Garden, an outdoor gallery welcoming visitors into landscapes that shaped life in the UAE. Stretching 600 metres from Saadiyat coast to the museum entrance, it features native plants representing desert, oasis, and urban environments. The garden includes a working falaj irrigation system and artistic sculptures.

Within the permanent galleries, "Our Beginning" focuses on Sheikh Zayed's life and leadership. His story unfolds through recordings of his voice, archive photos, personal items, letters, and installations. Visitors learn about the UAE’s foundational years and the influences that shaped its Founding Father.

The "Through Our Nature" gallery immerses visitors in diverse UAE landscapes using dioramas and multimedia installations. It examines geography’s historical impact on sustaining life in mountains, deserts, oases, and seas over millennia. This gallery highlights how nature has influenced life in these regions.

In "To Our Ancestors," archaeological discoveries reveal 300,000 years of human presence on this land. From ancient pearls to recreations of significant sites like Hili Grand Tomb, visitors gain insights into what archaeologists have uncovered about early inhabitants up until the Bronze Age.

Cultural Connections

The "Through Our Connections" gallery spans from the Iron Age 3,000 years ago to the 1100s CE. It illustrates how new technologies and knowledge broadened horizons for ancient emirates' people. This period saw emerging shared identities with developments like Arabic language evolution and Islam’s dawn.

The "By Our Coasts" gallery showcases UAE’s maritime heritage over five centuries. From navigator Ibn Majid to pearl divers of last century, it highlights cultural identity shaped by commercial exchanges along coasts during this time.

Celebrating Identity

Concluding with "To Our Roots," this gallery explores traditional lifestyles prevalent inland within UAE—customs shaping social-economic practices defining Emirati identity today are examined here thoroughly.
