Zayed Higher Organisation Celebrates Legacy Of Ashhafan Emirati Series With Theatrical Adaptation

The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) recently honoured the cast of the classic Emirati series Ashhafan. This celebration marked its legacy with a theatrical adaptation titled Ashhafan Family. The play was performed over three days at the Ahmed Mangoush Theatre, located at the Organisation’s headquarters. It featured actors from People of Determination, supported by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Akkasa Media Production.

Forty-eight years after its initial broadcast, this adaptation pays homage to Gulf drama heritage. It aims to reconnect audiences with beloved characters from the 1976 series. Foundation officials highlighted the importance of this recognition, noting how art promotes social cohesion and human values. They emphasised the role of People of Determination in arts, describing the adaptation as a creative and inclusive platform.

Honouring the Cast of Ashhafan Series

The play, directed by Mohammed Saeed and written by Abdullah Saleh, features both original and emerging actors such as Sultan Al Siyabi, Ghaya Said, Muzna Ahmed, and Mariam Hamdan. It focuses on challenges facing Gulf families today, exploring social media's impact on family dynamics while celebrating Emirati cultural heritage.

Original cast members expressed their gratitude for this recognition. They affirmed the series' lasting impact and thanked Zayed Higher for empowering People of Determination across various sectors. Attendees included Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Foundation; Abdullah Al Kamali, Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector; and Nafea Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Support Services, along with actors and relatives of late cast members.

Zayed Higher reinforces its commitment to integrating People of Determination into arts through this project. The organisation fosters independence, creativity, and social inclusion. Its Talented Determination initiative in Abu Dhabi continues to nurture artistic talent across various disciplines. This initiative enables global recognition while enriching cultural diversity.
