Zayed Charity Run In Egypt Draws Over 50,000 Participants To Aid Cancer Patients
The Zayed Charity Run's ninth edition began today in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, supported by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This event drew over 50,000 participants of all ages who completed a 10-kilometre course. The prize fund reached EGP20 million, alongside 200 twin Umrah trips. Proceeds were directed to Cairo's Children's Cancer Hospital (57357), aligning with the run’s charitable goals.
Dr. Sultan Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, attended the event along with Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports; Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee; Mariam Khalifa Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt; Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council; and Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of Emirates Red Crescent.

Dr. Sultan Saif Al Neyadi praised the strong UAE-Egypt relations and described the run as a significant charitable initiative from the UAE. He was pleased with the large turnout, showing enthusiasm for charity among men, women, youth, and children. This reflects the UAE’s mission to spread goodness, peace, love, generosity, tolerance, and coexistence.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy highlighted that the Zayed Charity Run goes beyond sports by fostering collaboration between Egypt and the UAE. It serves as a model for humanitarian work since its first event in Egypt in 2014. The run continues to make steady progress towards its philanthropic objectives.
Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi noted that the event embodies values taught by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan like generosity and humanity. Raising funds for Children's Cancer Hospital 57357 showcases this legacy. Aref Hamad Al Awani expressed pride in the success of this edition, emphasizing how it highlights the UAE’s dedication to global humanitarian efforts.
Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga from Hospital 57357 commended UAE leadership for supporting worldwide charitable projects. He acknowledged Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's significant legacy in aiding those in need. Dr. Abouelnaga mentioned that the inaugural run in Egypt in 2014 raised US$15.8 million for the hospital’s initial construction phase.
The Zayed Charity Run continues to strengthen ties between nations while promoting humanitarian values globally through its charitable initiatives and support for vital causes like healthcare for children.
