ZATCA Successfully Foils Smuggling Attempts Of Over 220,000 Prohibited Pills Across Multiple Ports
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has recently made notable progress in stopping drug smuggling at key Saudi ports. At King Fahd Causeway, Haditha, and Dabaa ports, authorities intercepted three separate attempts to smuggle over 220,000 illegal pills. These efforts highlight ZATCA's dedication to preventing the entry of harmful substances into the Kingdom.
In a significant operation at King Fahd Causeway, customs officials discovered 120,370 Captagon pills along with 45,975 other illegal pills. These were cleverly hidden within the cavities of a vehicle's doors. This interception was part of a broader effort to curb smuggling activities across the region.

Another successful seizure occurred at Haditha port. Here, customs officers found 21,011 Captagon pills concealed within a passenger's suitcase filled with clothing. This discovery underscores the diverse methods smugglers use to transport illegal substances.
At Dabaa port, authorities intercepted a truck carrying 34,084 Captagon pills hidden in the driver's seat cavity. This operation further demonstrates ZATCA's vigilance in monitoring various entry points into the Kingdom to prevent smuggling.
ZATCA worked closely with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control following these seizures. Their collaboration led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of being involved in receiving these illicit goods within Saudi Arabia. This partnership is crucial for dismantling smuggling networks.
The authority has reiterated its commitment to enhancing customs control over imports and exports. By doing so, it aims to strengthen societal security by reducing the influx of harmful substances and other illegal items into the country.
Public Involvement and Reporting
ZATCA encourages public participation in combating smuggling attempts to protect society and the national economy. Individuals can report such activities by calling (1910), using the international number (009661910), or emailing ([email protected]). Reports are treated confidentially, and accurate information may lead to a financial reward.
This initiative highlights ZATCA's proactive approach in engaging citizens as partners in safeguarding national interests against smuggling threats.
