Zaki Nusseibeh Reaffirms UAEU's Commitment To Academic Excellence And Strategic Advancement
Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, serving as the Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), led the initial Board of Trustees meeting for the 2025/2026 academic year at the Al Ain campus. He highlighted the university's dedication to academic excellence, student success, and strategic growth in line with national priorities.
The board approved UAE University's Strategy for 2027–2029. This strategy aligns with the UAE National Agenda 2031, featuring a renewed vision and mission grounded in national values. It focuses on priority areas and strategic goals developed through consultations with stakeholders both inside and outside the university.

The board reviewed UAEU's progress in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai) for 2025. The university improved by 100 places, now ranking within the 701–800 band globally and second nationally. Notably, UAEU entered the top 150 worldwide in Water Resources and top 200 in Agricultural and Financial Sciences due to impactful research.
Strengthening Academic Leadership
Discussions also covered enhancing academic leadership through new appointments across various colleges. The recruitment of additional faculty members aims to support increasing student numbers and expanding research activities. These efforts are crucial for maintaining high educational standards.
Strategic Partnerships and Celebrations
The board announced new strategic partnerships that contribute to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Preparations were also discussed for UAEU’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, starting on 10th November, marking five decades of significant contributions to education, research, and national development.
At the meeting's end, Nusseibeh thanked board members for their support of UAEU's strategic objectives. He emphasised their essential role in shaping the university's future, highlighting their contributions to its ongoing success.
