Young Talents Shine At The UAE National Mixed Martial Arts Championship In Al Ain
The UAE National Mixed Martial Arts Championship's fourth edition began at the ADNEC Centre in Al Ain. Organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, it features over 300 athletes from clubs and academies nationwide. This two-day event showcases the growing popularity of MMA among young athletes in the UAE.
The opening day featured intense matches in Youth D (10-11 years), Youth C (12-13 years), and Youth B (14-15 years) categories. Participants displayed impressive skills, highlighting MMA's growth among younger age groups. The federation aims to nurture new talent and strengthen grassroots support for the sport.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the federation, emphasised the event's role in talent recognition and development. He noted that the increasing number of participants reflects MMA's success in the national sports scene. "The enthusiastic participation from clubs, academies, and spectators greatly benefits athletes and enhances the event's atmosphere," he said.
Oshkun Bahadirov, coach at TKMMAFIT Academy in Dubai, highlighted these tournaments' importance for young athletes' skill development and confidence building. He praised the federation for providing professional platforms for emerging talents. Such events are crucial for nurturing future champions.
Marwan Hussein Al Nimer, whose sons Yassin and Zinedine compete in Youth C, expressed satisfaction with their involvement. He observed significant improvements in their confidence and discipline since they started practising MMA. He credits this progress to the federation’s well-structured environment.
Celebrating Achievements
Hind Al Hashmi from ADMA Academy won gold in the Youth D 40 kg division. She attributed her success to her coach’s guidance and her family's unwavering support. Her achievement underscores the positive impact of a supportive environment on young athletes' performance.
The championship concludes tomorrow with final bouts in Youth A (16-17 years) and Adults (18+ years) divisions. These matches promise thrilling displays of skill, further showcasing MMA's depth in the UAE. The event highlights local fighters' talents while promoting healthy living through sports.
Expanding MMA's Reach
The decision to host this championship in Al Ain is part of an initiative to popularise mixed martial arts across the UAE.
