Yemeni Parliament Praises Saudi Foreign Ministry Statement On Yemen's Security And Unity
The Yemeni House of Representatives expressed strong backing for recent decisions by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, highlighting their importance for safeguarding security, stability, and national unity. Lawmakers described the state of emergency and related measures as lawful tools designed to protect state institutions and ensure that public life continues under legitimate authority.
The house stressed full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and its chairman, noting that the council represents the country’s highest executive authority. It said the National Defense Council’s steps form part of a legal framework intended to secure Yemen’s territory, preserve public order, and guarantee a decent standard of living for the population.

In its statement, the Yemeni House of Representatives welcomed the position announced by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The house commended Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic stance and practical steps, saying they reflect continuing concern for Yemen’s security, the unity of its territory, and the welfare of Yemeni citizens across all regions.
Lawmakers also urged the United Arab Emirates to act as part of a comprehensive solution for Yemen. The statement appealed to the UAE to help Yemenis overcome their crises and to protect the national security of Gulf Cooperation Council partners, especially Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, stressing the need for urgent and responsible action.
| Body | Main Position | Key Actions Requested |
|---|---|---|
| Yemeni House of Representatives | Backs Presidential Leadership Council decisions | Support state of emergency, protect security and stability |
| Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs | Expresses concern for Yemen’s unity and security | Issues statement welcomed by Yemeni lawmakers |
| Transitional Council | Criticised for military movements | Asked to stop actions, withdraw from seized sites, accept dialogue |
| United Arab Emirates | Called to support regional security | Asked to help Yemenis and safeguard GCC partners |
The house called on the Transitional Council to immediately stop all unauthorised military movements and withdraw from camps and locations taken outside state control. It pressed the council to respect directives from the Presidential Leadership Council, abandon attempts to impose a new reality by force, and instead return to political dialogue.
According to the statement reported by the Yemen News Agency (Saba), the Yemeni House of Representatives said the Transitional Council’s behaviour, supported by external parties, does not help state-building or lasting stability. Lawmakers warned that such actions deepen internal divisions, undermine political efforts, weaken official institutions, and damage the broader national interest.
The statement from the Yemeni House of Representatives linked support from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the role of Gulf partners, and internal Yemeni dialogue as connected tracks. It argued that coordinated regional efforts, combined with respect for Yemen’s legitimate leadership, offer the best chance to restore security, protect institutions, and reduce the impact of the current crisis.
