Yas Marina Circuit Enhances Race Control Room For Upcoming 2025 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Yas Marina Circuit has completed a significant upgrade to its race control room, preparing for the 2025 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This enhancement strengthens its status as a leading global motorsport venue. The revamped facility, crucial during each Grand Prix session, now offers improved decision-making speed, safety oversight, and comfort for the 28 officials working long hours on race weekends.

The upgraded control room features advanced digital infrastructure. Operators can now instantly access any of the 55 camera feeds, timing systems, race logs, or broadcast streams using tablet controls. This setup removes the need for extra technical equipment and allows visiting championships to integrate seamlessly with the circuit’s systems without bringing their own hardware, saving both time and money.

Improved ergonomics and visual comfort are key benefits of the new facility. A tiered, theatre-style layout ensures clear sightlines for all operators. Dimmable LED lighting and darker wall tones help reduce glare. Custom-built desks with embedded communication panels and wireless charging create a clutter-free environment that supports clarity and focus during high-pressure operations.

Ali Al Beshr, General Manager of Yas Marina Circuit at Ethara, emphasised the circuit’s dedication to innovation and excellence with this upgrade. He stated, "As host of the F1 season finale, Yas Marina Circuit is the stage for defining moments in the sport. This upgrade ensures our team can manage operations with maximum precision and confidence so that the racing experience remains world-class."

The new control room debuted during the first round of the Yas Racing Series from 31st October to 2nd November. It will oversee events in the upcoming 2025/2026 motorsport season, including the Autonomous Racing Series, Lenovo Gulf 12 Hours, Asian Le Mans Series, Formula 4 Middle East, and Formula Regional Middle East.

Stuart Latham, Yas Marina Circuit Safety and Operations Director, highlighted that the facility exceeds international standards. "We have exceeded FIA requirements. Every element of this room was designed to enhance precision, efficiency, and collaboration. It is among the most technologically advanced race control centres in the world," he said.

The 2025 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled at Yas Marina Circuit from 5th to 7th December. The upgraded control room will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations throughout this prestigious event.
