Yanbu Set For Transformation With Waterfront Tourism Projects

ASFAR, a Saudi tourism investment entity fully owned by the Public Investment Fund, has recently announced a significant move towards enhancing Yanbu's appeal as a top tourist destination. In collaboration with Baheej, a joint venture formed with the Tamimi-AWN Alliance, and the Royal Commission for Yanbu, ASFAR has unveiled plans to introduce four innovative projects along Yanbu's waterfront. This announcement was made during the 2024 Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) in Saudi Arabia, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's tourism sector development.

The agreement signing ceremony saw the presence of notable figures including Eng. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Salem, President of the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu, Eng. Abdulhadi Al-Juhani, CEO of the Royal Commission for Yanbu, Dr. Fahad Bin Mushayt, CEO of ASFAR, and Norah Al-Tamimi, CEO of Baheej. These projects, managed by Baheej, aim to significantly elevate Yanbu's tourism infrastructure by introducing a range of facilities including restaurants, beachfront amenities, a luxury resort, a premium hotel, a visitor services centre with a diving academy, and a marina.

Yanbu's Tourism Boost

Eng. Abdulhadi Al-Juhani highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership in bolstering the tourism industry through private sector collaboration. He expressed enthusiasm for the potential growth and development this alliance would bring to Yanbu's tourism sector. Dr. Fahad Bin Mushayt shared similar sentiments, emphasizing the strategic significance of these projects in enhancing hospitality and entertainment services along the Red Sea.

The collaboration aims to leverage Yanbu's rich historical heritage and natural beauty to attract substantial tourism from local, Gulf, and international sources. Dr. Mushayt underscored Yanbu's economic and touristic significance within the Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives along the Red Sea Coast.

Norah Al-Tamimi expressed excitement about leading the development of these projects, which are expected to transform Yanbu's industrial coastline into an attractive tourist destination. This partnership aligns with Vision 2030’s ambitious goals to diversify the economy and enhance Saudi Arabia's global tourism standing.

The alliance between ASFAR and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu is set to play a crucial role in achieving Vision 2030’s target of welcoming 150 million visitors by 2030. It underscores a commitment to sustainable development and innovation within the tourism sector.
