Yalamlam Miqat: A Hub For Umrah Performers And Visitors To Grand Mosque

The Yalamlam Miqat, a crucial point for Muslims undertaking the spiritual journey of Umrah, has witnessed a significant surge in visitors during the last ten days of Ramadan in 1445 AH. This location, serving as a pivotal stop for those coming from the southern parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, becomes a hub of religious activity as pilgrims prepare for their journey to Makkah and the Grand Mosque. The Saudi Press Agency has documented the devout atmosphere at the Miqat mosque, capturing the essence of worship and preparation before the pilgrims proceed to perform their Umrah rituals.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, various authorities are actively involved in ensuring that the mosque and its facilities are fully prepared to accommodate the influx of worshippers. These efforts include the distribution of Iftar meals to those fasting, provision of water and food, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the premises. The mosque itself, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, has undergone several development projects aimed at enhancing its urban landscape, restructuring public service locations, and renewing carpets to better serve over 4,000 worshippers.

With a dedicated staff of more than 105 employees, the Miqat mosque is well-equipped to assist Umrah performers and visitors. The vicinity also boasts a water desalination plant capable of pumping approximately 1,500 tons of desalinated water daily and a spacious reception hall measuring 6,000 square meters. Located about 85 km southwest of Makkah on the coastal road, Yalamlam Miqat stands as the southern gateway to the Holy Land. It is one of five spatial Miqats designated by the Prophet Muhammad for entering into Ihram, making it an essential stop for pilgrims, especially those from Yemen and southern Saudi regions.

This year's Ramadan has seen Yalamlam Miqat play a vital role in facilitating the spiritual journey of countless Muslims as they seek to fulfill their religious obligations. The concerted efforts by relevant authorities to enhance and maintain the facilities underscore the importance of this site in ensuring a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Umrah experience for all visitors.
